Pinoy Health: ECQ Extension in Cebu

Cebu City and Cebu Province are included in the list of HIGH RISK areas. President Rodrigo Duterte gave orders for the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine until May 15, 2020.

As of yesterday, Cebu City alone holds 412 COVID-19 positive cases (89.76%) making a total of 459 cases for Central Visayas. The latest tally of 63 confirmed cases came from Cebu City Jail.

Align with this, The Province is planning to purchase 50,000 rapid test kits for the massive targeted testing for persons under monitoring (PUM), the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) and other areas based on population density and geographical location (nearness to areas infected with Covid-19). The massive targeted testing is part of the Provincial Government’s preparations for a modified enhanced community quarantine.

I think that the Province is making all its efforts to contain the virus. And what Cebuanos needs to do know is to cooperate and avoid going out for unnecessary matters. We need to assume that we are on a total lockdown because in this way we can minimize movement that could possible spread the virus. We can't prolong much longer compromising the economy.

National: Malacañang to Fast Track National ID System Amidst COVID-19

PHILIPPINE NATIONAL ID will be pushed amidst COVID crisis. Malacañang sees that the ID system could have help speed up the government cash aid distribution.

A month after the Senate approves the budget still we are slowpoke in the distribution of the cash assistance. The National ID System critics addressed before that this action of the government would pose threat to the country's privacy and infringe on peoples privacy rights.

For me, it is clearly for selfish reasons of the leftist group to block Duterte's regime of its legislative priority agenda to improve the delivery of government services. But for what damn reasons? For detection, or identification of the leftist communities? Who in so many case rooted from the greedy politicians who only wants to destabilize the country and disorient the Filipinos thinking towards the administration.

jeopardize the security of Filipinos and leave them vulnerable to violations of their privacy and
other rights. —INQUIRER PHOTO

On the larger scale, this will be made applicable to the current situation of the country today. The global pandemic are now testing the country's readiness. And to be honest we are not, because we have lots of selfish legislators. Now we need that ID system for faster traceability and distribution of cash aids. But according to NEDA, only 5M will be able to register this year. And targeted to finish all Filipinos on 2022.

Better late than never.

Pinoy Health: Basic Protection Against COVID-19?

Wash your hands frequently

Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Maintain social distancing

Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.

Practice respiratory hygiene

Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.

If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early

Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.

Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider

Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.
If you are sick and think you have symptoms of COVID-19, seek medical attention, call the local Coronavirus Health Information Line for advice: 0922-397-2334 / 0943-568-3298 / (032) 402-3091 / (032) 402-1269.

Pinoy Health: What is COVID-19?

https://www.heywood.org/education/covid19-coronavirus-updates/faqs

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

How to prevent infection?

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.

How does COVID-19 spread?

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

How does COVID-19 treated?

At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments. WHO will continue to provide updated information as soon as clinical findings become available.
